Date
January 05, 2024
McAllister Towing is proud to announce the arrival of the tug Grace McAllister. The Grace McAllister was recently delivered from Maine shipyard, Washburn & Doughty. She is equipped with 3516E Tier IV Caterpillar engines powering twin Schottel SRP 490 Z-drive units. The Grace received a Low Emission Vessel class notation from ABS. Combining her eco-friendly CAT engines with Markey winches on the bow and stern makes the American-made Grace one of the most advanced and powerful shipdocking tractor tugs serving the Port of New York. Combining McAllister’s talented mariners and seasoned Pilots with the newest and most technologically advanced tugboats on the East Coast, McAllister has set the bar for services unlike any other. The Grace joins a fleet of certified Low Emission vessels, including the Ava McAllister and Capt. Brian A. McAllister in New York. The maritime industry will not only enjoy the safety and power of these tugs’ abilities, but can be assured that their carbon foot print has been reduced while calling our Ports.

Mediterranean Mooring - first time ever in Virginia!

Date
October 19, 2023
What an incredible success by the entire team at McAllister Towing of Virginia! The first eight monopile foundations for the Dominion Energy Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind Farm have been delivered to the Portsmouth Marine Terminal in Virginia. The tugs Alicia F. McAllister and Rosemary McAllister met the vessel Sun Shine off Naval Operations Base in Norfolk. From there, the tugs, with over 11,000 horsepower, safely guided the ship and monopiles to the terminal where they performed a Mediterranean mooring, the first of its kind in the Port of Virginia. A Mediterranean mooring means that the tugs docked the ship stern first. Bravo to pilot Chris Ferguson, the crew members aboard the tugs and the entire team at McAllister Towing of Virginia for this historic and successful arrival. Thank you to DEME Group for trusting us with this important cargo. We are so proud of this accomplishment and in helping to lead the way for a greener tomorrow!

Another successful launch at Washburn & Doughty Associates, Inc. We are proud to introduce the Grace McAllister! The newest tractor tug to the McAllister fleet was pulled into the stream by her shipmate the Nancy McAllister. This happened shortly after Grace McAllister herself smashed the honorary bottle of champagne across the tug's bow. A special thank you to Grace who flew across the pond to perform this ceremony. We look forward to delivery day when her namesake tug will "grace" us with her power and maneuverability for many years.
